Having an on-board air system on a vehicle has so many great uses. From airing up bike tires, to air mattresses. Drying off wet items, blowing out dust from the interior or just airing up those big tires on the van after some off-road adventures. The Van Compass Air System Mount makes it easy to bolt your choice of air compressors under the hood of the 2019+ Mercedes Sprinter VS30.
Mounting the air compressor in the engine bay, next to the intake of the cabin air filter ensures that the air compressor will be kept out of the elements and free from road debris, dust, mud, water, snow and caustic de-icing chemicals found in snowy areas.
This bracket mounts using existing holes already in the engine bay for a simple drill installation and can be fully installed in under an hour. We designed this bracket to have a bolt pattern for a plethora of different brands and sizes of compressors. Here's a list of all the compressor mounting patterns already designed into the bracket:
- ARB Twin Air Compressor: CKMTA12
- ARB Single Compressors: CKMA12 or CKSA12
- Viar: 100C, 280C thru 480C, 400H thru 450H
Other compressor brands may be compatible as well, refer to the dimension drawing above and in the instructions. Or drill your own mounting holes in the bracket for a simple installation of your favorite brand of air compressor. Click the link below for detailed instructions on how to install this product.
Fit perfectly and installation was quick and easy.
I have built a couple other Overland Rigs and the necessity for an onboard air system is real. Driving on Off-road surfaces, Corrugations, and in Rocks, you need to air down. Having the ability to let the tires absorb the abrupt road conditions not only enhances your ride but saves on your expensive suspension components. I have always mounted the ARB On-Board Twin High Performance 12 Volt Air Compressor - CKMTA12. It is a work horse and with an added (4)four gallon air tank it makes filling oversize tires a breeze. Most of us never want to air down because of the time to air back up. You can also run air tools and use it to blow out the interior of the van when cleaning, and blowing out waterlines when winterizing the water system. I would never build an Overland Rig without one.
This mounting system has been very well engineered and thought out. It is easy for one person to install and the location couldn't be better. It protects your compressor investment by being sheltered in the engine bay. The mounting location is close enough to the chassis battery to make for a very straight forward wiring installation.
Again the fit and finish is of the utmost in quality and craftsmanship. This is something I am beginning to expect from any Van Compass product. Another hit out of the park Van Compass!
I purchased to mount a Viair compressor in my 2019 sprinter. install took about an hour, mostly me figuring out how to temporarily remove the wheel well liner to enable insertion of one of the bolts.
Once mounted, the space between the compressor and body panel is a great place to store the coiled up electrical cord for the compressor. I store the hoses and other accessories in a dry bag on the auxiliary battery mount.
I have used this many times to air up since install.
a great weekend project.
