Its no secret that catalytic converter theft is on the rise. Vehicles like Sprinters make a prime target, especially fleet vehicles that sit grouped together unattended in commercial or industrial areas when not working. RVs in long term storage make another prime target. Even worse, if you are a victim of this crime, parts are often backordered, and there is costly other damage like missing sensors and ruined pipes.
Our catalytic converter anti-theft guard gets in the way of would be thieves with 1/4" thick formed aluminum and stainless tamper proof hardware. Due to is soft nature, aluminum is actually much harder on most tools like grinders and reciprocating saws, gumming up the blade and slowing down thieves looking to make a quick getaway. Numerous ventilation holes ensure ample airflow around hot exhaust components, and intelligently designed mounting brackets ensure ease of serviceability down the line.

why sell this as CAT protector when diesel has not CAT. The DOC/DPF are tuck very close to the engine has hardly accessible from underneath. The one on your picture is a MUFFLER.
Install was relatively simple, the supplied torx bolts and head are too soft to comfortably torque to spec - they strip easily. Otherwise, it looks great and feels sturdy.
If you own a Sprinter and park in urban areas, job sites, or overnight lots, this is a smart investment. The cost of the shield is far less than replacing a stolen catalytic converter and dealing with downtime. Highly recommended for Sprinter owners looking to protect their vehicle.
My Sprinter is lifted so no problem for accessibility. The E 18 Torx socket was included in the set. Cleaning the threads on the provided tabbed nuts was necessary. I was able to clean the threads with an extra bolt in the set.
Lifted the protector into place with a floor jack. Bolted it in place. Did not use a torque wrench. Shield is five stars.
The instructions are four stars.
I did have to lift my van only because my Owl side steps are low enough that I cannot crawl under unless it's up on risers. Installation otherwise was straightforward, but like the other reviewer I had to use a tap to clean the crud out the threads in the supplied bolt/bracket assemblies. I still do not understand why aftermarket add-ons are still using SAE instead of metric.
