Venture onto dirt roads knowing you have a back up plan if you get stuck or a trail obstacle ahead of you is just a bit beyond your van's capability. Our winch mounting system completely replaces the factory bumper under the plastic cover. We include two front 3/4" thick recovery points and a 2" front receiver hitch attachment. You can choose to run all three of the bolt on accessories or any combination. The optional hitch is great for bicycle racks, as a recovery point and campground utility. Constructed from 3/16" steel plate and 1/4" square tube. Powder coated black with a zinc primer for maximum corrosion resistance. This front winch mount is designed around the Warn Zeon series of winches. Many other winches are compatible with this kit, but please reference the Warn Zeon 12 winch for the maximum winch size. The front hitch should only be used on vans without collision assist / brake sensors, as carrying gear can cause sensor warnings.

Another Perfect Fit

I installed the hidden winch bar this spring. I am typically dubious about the stated install time/ease of most after-market upgrades; yet--just like the rear step--the install instructions were spot-on, the fit was precise and tight, and the product is absolutely as described. Install took me about 8 hours, but half of that was determining and re-configuring the winch wiring.
A couple of notes:
1. the version I received did NOT require trimming of the factory "tubes", the bar fit without modification to the truck frame;
2. I took a little extra time to iteratively trim the bumper cover for a very snug fit around the winch and shackle-points;
3. Expect to run new cables to reach the foot-well battery, and in that process, one can alter the path by which they exit the winch for a more streamlined fit;
4. Add the Tuffy flip-down license plate holder for state compliance (CA, CO, etc) and for an even more stealth look.

Another great product. Thanks Van Compass!

Perfect fit

Great product. The welds are beautiful, powder coat finish is perfect. Great instructions and it fits like a glove under the factory plastic bumper cover. We mounted the Warn Zeon 10S and it looks awesome. It was such a tight and precise fit we wonder if they build watches too! Doing our first Sprinter van build we have run across some crap. This product is 5 star!

Front Options

Let me start by saying the quality and fit are excellent. By adding this system to the front of the Sprinter not only increases the sturdiness but opens up a whole new set of options that can be used on the front end. My main purpose was to allow me to maneuver the boat from the front end when moving the boat inside the garage. Now my I have many thoughts of options for the new receiver like ice chest while surf fishing, firewood while camping and hammock for siestas.

Many thanks to the team at Vancompass for making this possible. I will be keeping my on your website for new offering for the Sprinter.

Front winch bumper

I purchased the front winch and hitch bumper frame from VC. Similar to the Fox stage 1 and the 2” lift systems, the instructions were excellent and the installation was straight forward. I used the X-Bull 13,000 lb winch. Even with this beefy winch, there’s enough room to work the manual switches if necessary. It fit as described and everything lined up as it was supposed to. A well designed and robust frame.

As a previous reviewer commented, this system is exactly what I was looking for and has given me the confidence to explore much more then if I hadn’t purchased it.

I’m extremely satisfied with this product!

Perfect Solution - Recommend Pro Installation

This is exactly the product I've been looking for. My Sprinter has parking sensors, and there was no interference with this bumper or the winch.

After reading through the detailed instructions, I decided that professional install was the way to go. My local body shop agreed to install the bumper, and the winch (a Warn Platinum 10s) for $250.

The install went smoothly (it took the body shop about 3-hours), and the installer at the body shop made a few comments:

* The product is very well built, and the instructions are clear.
* The fit is very tight, and he mentioned having to slightly move the A/C compressor back to get everything to fit.
* The wiring that comes with the Warn 10s _barely_ reaches to the factory auxiliary (under the hood) battery.
* I chose not to have the front hitch receiver installed, so if I ever need to connect back to the front of my vehicle for, say, a double-line-pull, I'll need to connect back to the factory tow point.

After the install, I used some automotive rubber trim around the opening in the bumper, just to make things look a touch more clean.

Because the Sprinter uses unibody construction, adding a big bumper to doesn't make sense in the same way it does for a body-on-frame truck. VanCompass' front winch bumper is a great solution that lets you add the recovery capabilities of a winch, without having to add a minimally-useful exterior front bumper.
