I should have bought this before destroying 2 intercoolers

Hind site is always 20/20. Haha

I wanted the one that's notched out for the future receiver mount but must have ordered the wrong one. Not a huge deal I'll just have to notch it myself at a later date. I already had to modify it to clear some recovery points that I had welded onto the subframe to front bumper supports that run front to back which is what this skid plate bolts to. It's aluminum so it's not indestructible but also not super heavy which is good and offers a decent amount of protection. Without it the intercooler gets bent back into the power steering pump pully when pushing through deep snow with deep ruts.
The 5" WeldTech Designs lift and 33's help also. My van spends 9=10 montgs a year 90% off road. No pavement pounder here. Good product, well designed and manufactured.

Rear bolt dogs into charge pipe

This skid plate was the second upgrade for my van after tires. I got it to prevent anything from happening to the intercooler that hangs down pretty low and it’s only protected by thin abs plastic. Unfortunately the oil filter bolts rusted and seized, these appear to be a black oxide bolt but I think they’ve moved to stainless, I put antiseize on them this go around. One of the rivnuts has also spun so I need to replace that as well. Lastly and most concerning is the bolts are too long and when you tighten them down they dig into the intercooler charge pipe creating a gouge in mine. I suspect anything that pushes on that rear bolt area will break your charge pipe and be a pretty expensive repair. Ultimately it’s my responsibility to check clearances and make sure parts I’m putting on my van are quality. Transit offroad came out with a longer skid that covers back to the cross brace so that’s what I would do if I were starting over.

    Great

With so much expensive looking stuff being up front and low I decided this was a worthwhile investment. I'm glad I did it right away. It's already saved us from some damage while out on forest service roads. While crossing a water bar in the winter it took a pretty good strike on some frozen dirt. It cracked a weld in the skid plate corner but I figure that is a lot better than ripping off the plastic bumper or worse.

Nice finish to the front bumper

I have the Backwoods bumper and once it was installed I was left with a gaping hole behind the bumper. This left some hoses and other engines parts hanging down. But with this skid plate installed, it fills the hole, protects the needed items, and just looks clean. I did have to cut a few inches off to fit the bumper but really easy and well worth the extra work. Also, love the access to the oil filter. Nice work guys.

    Outstanding Product!

This was the first upgrade we purchased for our 2020 AWD Passenger Van and we were absolutely stunned by how awesome Van Compass products fit. The quality is top tier, instructions are flawless, and the customer service is extremely helpful/responsive. Not only does it look great, this skid plate adds a level of protection necessary for folks venturing off the beaten path with their Transits.
